We are often asked about our building technique and many are surprised to hear that while we still stick build on occasion, we primarily use pre-made panels to construct our custom homes.
These panels are pre-fabricated in a factory and shipped to our job sites already assembled and sheathed (exterior walls).
Once on site, our builders move the panels into place (sometimes requiring a crane) and affix them to the deck and to each other...just like a giant set of Legos!
Here are a few benefits of panelized construction:
- Panels are cheaper to produce due to the factory setting in which they are manufactured AND they are cheaper to install due to the reduced labor needs. (Note that when we say "cheaper" we do not mean they are of less quality!). This means that savings are enjoyed by builders and buyers alike.
- Panelized construction is considered very "green" and is backed by the National Green Building Standard
- Because panel design is created first in a computer, home buyers gain increased flexibility in design and layout while having the opportunity to "see" their homes in the digital space
Panlized construction has worked for us and for our customers and we look forward to the continued use of this wonderul technology to bring our customers' vision to life.
You can see video of a panelized home build in our recent blog post on the subject: click HEREto watch.
Here at L&A, we are proud to order our quality panles from S.R. Sloan, Inc. and we encourage fellow builders and potential home buyers to check out their products. You can learn more about Sloan through their website or on Facebook and Google+.
